F.A.S.T. treatment is the fastest treatment for acne scars
The F.A.S.T. treatment is an acne scar treatment, developed by Dr. Schweiger, that he has found to be the fastest treatment for acne scars. Dr. Schweiger explains that, “F.A.S.T. is an acronym for Focal Acne Scar Treatment, meaning that during the treatment, only focal areas of acne scarring are treated. Using the Fractional CO2 Laser, we target only the localized areas of acne scarring. Since we do not treat the entire surface of the face, we are able to use higher energy levels, for a more effective treatment with fewer side effects.”
The F.A.S.T. treatment is only performed at the Clear Clinic at Schweiger Dermatology. During your visit, we will apply a topical numbing agent to your skin for approximately one hour. The treatment itself takes fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on the surface area being treated. The numbing medication works very well, our patients do not feel pain during the treatment. Immediately after the treatment, we will review post-treatment instructions and provide you with all of the necessary supplies. Patients should plan for 3-4 days of redness, swelling and crusting over the treated areas, though this is a vast improvement over the 5-7 days of downtime necessary for a more traditional full face Fractional CO2 laser acne scar treatment.
During the one week follow-up appointment, most patients are already noticing improvement in the depth of their acne scars. Most patients experience a 50-70% improvement in acne scarring, and the improvement continues to get better for up to six months following the single treatment.
