Acne in Men
Acne does not choose favorites, so unfortunately everyone can develop acne at some point in their lives. It is more common in teenagers and young women, but acne commonly presents in men as well. In male patients, acne often presents as truncal acne (acne on the back and chest), though it can occur on the face as well. Acne treatment for male patients must be tailored to each patient specifically. Male patients often are not in the habit of applying creams in the morning and evening, so topical medications can be burdensome.
Dr. Schweiger explains that, “Male patients, in particular, tend to do very well with in-office laser and light treatments. Photodynamic Therapy and the Isolaz Acne Treatment are very effective for the treatment of acne and can be performed on the trunk if necessary.”
